January 11, 2003 Guo Tai Foreign Languages and Art School ----My best choice Dear Madam Zhang, As the saying goes that it takes ten years to grow trees but a hundred to rear people. The development of any country depends on education as well as that in any family, which should be responsible for the children’s excellent education. Thinking of this, I chose Guo-Tai school for my daughter. And it is proved that what I did is wise. Hu Jiayue (Jiajia for short), who is my second daughter, removed to Teacher Wang’s class in your school in September, 2002. She had attended school for a year in Dasixiang Primary School, which has a hundred history in YongKang. I thought that she would be easier in her lessons in GuoTai school, because she had done well in her study in YongKang. But in fact I was completely mistaken. When we faced the new teaching materials, the different teaching theories and a strange condition for studying, both my daughter and I had another test. Since September last year when she entered GuoTai. Jiajia felt much more difficult than the children at her age in the lessons and everyday life at school. And she fell behind the class in her work. On one Friday afternoon I went to get Jiajia back home, Teacher Wang said to me frankly, “Jiajia is not good at her lessons. She must work harder!” I became very upset when I heard what she said. I wondered why she didn’t do as I had expected, for she had been very good before. Looking at the teaching materials. I was at a loss. I did not know how to do. Should I keep my daughter unchanged like what the teacher said? Jiajia was inferier and afraid during those days. She wept sometimes when she had problems in her lessons and lost her temper. I couldn’t help hitting and swearing at her. She was a child after all when I became quiet and had a careful thought. I should encourage her but not to hit or swear at her. Realizing this, I analysed the differences between my daughter and other students and had a method in mind to help her. I followed the teachers’ instructions and told the girl to go over the lessons little by little. I helped her to pay more attention to the speed and accuracy in maths and take the precision and width in languages into consideration. It was dawned on me deeply that GuoTai has been presented children with higher starting and demands in their education while I was helping my girl with her lessons. Yes, it is true that it will be beneficial in his life when a man at his early schooling goes into a school with better school spirit, teachers of great learning and exemplary virtue and a positive studying atmosphere. Falling behind is not afraid of. What is afraid of is to lack the encouragement and have no confidence to catch up with others. I often embraced my daughter when she encountered a problem and said, “Jiajia, as long as you try your best, you’ll succeed.” Teacher Wang praised my girl immediately as well as other teachers when she saw my girl’s a little progress. What they did made Jiajia believe in herself. She changed from a girl with no choice to the one with face always smiling. She felt slow in her lessons before, but now she does her work quite quickly. It took her more than a month to do more practice. She has made a great progress now. As a result, the girl said to me faithfully one day after the middle of the term, “Mum, I can do my lessons very quickly now. I am also good at drawing. I often get the first in bathing.” Looking at her smiling face, I couldn’t refrain from great thanks to GuoTai school. Thanks wholeheartedly for all the teachers and all the nurses. As a result of their excellent teaching and good care, my daughter has improved greatly in morality, intellectual physical, education, art and other aspects. A term, within only a few months, has passed smoothly. Learning is boundless, and my daughter still have to work hard on it. I am now very gratified at my choice. GuoTai is a parent-satisfied school in reality as well as in name!
Yours truly Ying Xiaoyan, mother of a pupil Hu Jiayi in class 3, Grade 2 of the Primary school in Hangzhou Guo Tai Foreign Language & Art School.
